Stand for Justice
There are several ways you can lend your voice, skills or experiences to the justice transformation movement - whether that’s online or in person. Here are some ways you can help drive change.
Join the JustSpeak Volunteer community
Volunteers have always been a key part of the JustSpeak movement. We are committed to channeling the skills and elevating the lived experience of our community for effective justice transformation. Learn more here.
Support our campaign to raise the age of criminal responsibility
In Aotearoa, our minimum age of criminal responsibility is 10 years old. This is the age that kids can be prosecuted and punished for a crime. We believe a child in primary school is too young to be held liable for a criminal offence.
For several years we have been campaigning with allied organisations to build support for raising the age of criminal responsibility from 10 yrs old to 14 yrs old. This would mean that New Zealand would align with international best practices, and we break cycles of harm in our communities.
Visit Amnesty International's website to find out more and use their template to email Justice Minister Goldsmith with a strong call to raise the age of criminal responsibility.
Join the Prisoner Correspondence Network
The Prisoner Correspondence Network (PCN) is a volunteer-run pen pal program for people in prisons in Aotearoa New Zealand. PCN fosters friendships and support networks between incarcerated and free people, allows for writing practice, and provides a space for personal expression.
